Has corruption in medicine become so widespread in the public health establishment as to compromise the lives and wellbeing of us all?

CORRUPTION in medicine, observed TCW’s chief medical and health writer Neville Hodgkinson in January, is nothing new and has become so widespread in the public health establishment as to compromise the lives and wellbeing of us all. One of the examples he gives is the continued suppression of multiple studies showing the power of the cheap, long-established drug ivermectin in countering Covid.

(Dr Tess) Lawrie was trying to persuade (Dr Andrew) Hill to participate in and co-author an immediate review of all published ivermectin studies in the medical literature, to be conducted by the eminent Cochrane Network. But despite his own analysis that had found ivermectin to be overwhelmingly effective, he refused, claiming the studies comprised ‘low certainty’ of value and that more trials were needed. Asking him to explain his U-turn, Hill told Lawrie that he was in a ‘tricky situation’ because his sponsors had put pressure on him.

Hill is a Liverpool virologist who serves as an adviser to Bill Gates and the Clinton Foundation. His research sponsor was Unitaid, a quasi-governmental advocacy organisation funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) and several countries – France, the United Kingdom, Norway, Brazil, Spain, the Republic of Korea and Chile – to lobby governments to finance the purchase of medicines from pharmaceutical multinationals for distribution to the African poor.

Four days before the publication of Hill’s revised study, according to Robert F Kennedy Jr’s book, Unitaid gave $40million to the University of Liverpool.
