In this debate, a coalition of experts including former UK Cabinet Minister David Davis MP, Index on Censorship chief executive Ruth Smeeth, and others examine the UK government’s proposed Online Safety Bill. This bill which, crucially, conflates illegal speech with vague ill-defined ‘harmful’ speech, could lead to even more repressive censorship from “Big Tech” platforms

…we know what they’re going to do. They’re going to lean heavily on the side of caution and anything which can be characterised as “misinformation” will be censored.

Silicon Valley megacorporations are going to be the arbiters of truth online and the chilling effect on free speech will be terrible.
